Motorola takes over Amedia IP gateways
more on the topic
Motorola is taking over production of some IP home gateway products it developed jointly with Amedia Networks.
The two equipment vendors agreed in April 2006 to jointly develop three IP home gateways for use with Motorola’s existing multiservice access platform. As part of the three-year deal, Motorola agreed to pay Amedia $1.9 million for its development work, and Amedia agreed to grant Motorola the exclusive right to resell its PG1000 and HG-V100 gateways to certain big carriers for two years.
At the end of last month, they replaced that agreement with a new one wherein Motorola takes on all engineering, production and support for the gateways and pays license fees to Amedia. Motorola will pay Amedia $5 for every unit it manufactures. Those payments begin with a lump sum of $200,000 for the first 40,000 gateways.popular articles
