Aztek reboots with E911 gateway
more on the topic
Aztek Engineering got a new name, new funding and a new chief executive officer this week as it embarked on a new business of selling remote gateways for emergency services.
Renamed Aztek Networks, the company collected $6.6 million in Series A financing this week, introducing a new product that will become available next spring: a remote switch gateway that includes both IP media gateway functions and standalone emergency switching capabilities. The product, deployable in field cabinets, is designed to allow carriers to migrate to IP architectures while preserving high-availability service for emergency 911 service.
Steven Bruny was named the company’s new CEO this week, replacing Aztek founder Mark Elder, who will become chief technology officer. Bruny was most recently CEO of Azure Solutions, a vendor of anti-fraud software that was acquired by Subex Systems last year.
