Cable TV giant Comcast Corp reported net telephone service subscriber additions of about 381,000 during the third quarter, the company officials said on their quarterly earnings call Thursday. That figure beat many analyst expectations.
Comcast Chairman and CEO Brian Roberts said the cable TV firm now has 2.1 million telephony customers, and its revenue from phone service increased 51% to $252 million. The bet subscriber additions included gross growth of 483,000 subscribers to Comcast Digital Voice, minus a loss of 102,000 circuit-switched subscribers.
The company also continued to note progress in selling bundled services, as it reported 558,000 new digital cable TV customers in the third quarter, and about 536,000 Internet subscribers.
Comcast reported an overall quarterly profit of $1.2 billion that was boosted by the company’s acquisitions of Adelphia Communications and some Time Warner cable properties. Revenue for the quarter came in at about $6.43 billion.
