ECI Telecom named Avi Cohen its new chief operating officer today.
Cohen hails from California-based semiconductor firm KLA-Tencor, where he spent seven of his eleven years there as president of KLA-Tencor Israel. Based in the U.S. for the past four years, he was most recently a group vice president.
Cohen holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering and applied physics from Case Western Reserve University.
ECI has been without a permanent COO since the end of last year, when its chief executive officer Doron Inbar stepped down and was replaced by the previous COO, Rafi Maor.
Last month the Israeli-based equipment vendor named Juniper Networks alumnus Tony Scarfo as executive vice president and general manager of its data networking division, formerly known as Laurel Networks.
In May, ECI added former Alcatel chief technology officer Niel Ransom to its board of directors.
