Juniper Networks introduced a new smaller version of its E320 broadband services router (BSR) today.

Generally available in the third quarter, the new E120 BSR is a six and a half rack units tall, with 120 Gb/s of capacity—enough to support up to 64,000 subscribers, Juniper said.

Juniper unveiled the E320 BSR in the summer of 2005, boosting its capacity from 100 Gb/s to 320 Gb/s in September 2006. The new E120 supports about half as many ports as the E320.

“The E120 addresses a major concern for service providers, specifically how to cost-effectively scale their IPTV services to reach a larger subscriber base served by smaller, space and power-constrained sites,” Jeff Heynen, Infonetics Research analyst, said in a statement released by Juniper today
