Motorola buys VOD vendor Broadbus
more on the topic
Motorola today announced its intent to acquire Broadbus Technologies, a privately held vendor of video-on-demand equipment.
Broadbus' video content servers, based on Dynamic Random Access Memory, have been deployed by Time Warner Cable, Charter Communications, Comcast and others.
The acquisition of seven-year-old Broadbus for an undisclosed sum is only the latest move by Motorola to capture the residential video infrastructure market. In April, Motorola announced it would jointly develop IP home gateways with Amedia Networks. In January the company acquired Swedish set-top vendor Kreatel. And it currently supplies passive optical networking gear and set-top boxes for Verizon Communications' fiber-to-the-home deployment.
