Comcast offers triple play for $99

Comcast is ratcheting up the competition for bundle discounts, starting in San Francisco with a $99 promotional offer for the first year of voice, data and video services.

Prior to the promotion, Comcast’s Digital Cable with video-on-demand, Comcast Digital Voice and Comcast High Speed Internet would cost $132.89. According to Comcast, the special promotion is available to 90% of its Bay Area subscribers today and will reach the communities of Monterey, Santa Cruz, Walnut Creek, Pittsburg, Antioch, Bay Point and Castro Valley shortly.

According to Comcast, the cable company is already doing well selling bundles in the San Francisco area. In its press release announcing the promotion, Comcast said that in areas where it is offering the service bundle, one out of four customers is buying voice, data and video services and half are taking at least two of the three.

The California promotion is not Comcast’s most aggressive, however. In the Northeast, the cable giant offered all three services for $69 to customers who had left Comcast for a competitor, if they returned to the fold.
