AT&T has added online gaming to its AT&T blue room site, hoping to lure the growing gamer crowd to its content portal. Parks Associates has predicted that gaming will be a $4.4 billion industry by 2010.
AT&T blue room gaming will feature exclusive content, the company said, including a “webisode” series feature tips, tricks and game strategies, along with video interviews of game developers and other forms of commentary, downloads and more.
AT&T launched blue room as a Web content portal aimed at a young, hip crowd of users and featuring video and other content. The online content development is part of the overall broadband content push that AT&T is making.
"Gaming is mainstream, and AT&T blue room gaming will help us show off our industry-leading broadband offerings and deliver valuable gaming content in an engaging and relevant way to this fast-growing and influential group," said Dan York, head of programming for AT&T, in a prepared statement. “Gamers with an instantly available, dedicated broadband line have an advantage over their competitors with slower connections.”
AT&T is promoting blue room and its new gaming site by offering a chance to win a customized PC or a copy of “Dark Messiah Might and Magic,” a hot new title.
