BellSouth takes Ethernet everywhere
more on the topic
BellSouth today announced availability of Ethernet for access to business virtual private network services across the Southeast.
Bellsouth’s Metro Ethernet service, launched in 2004 and available since in certain metro areas, will now be available across the company’s corporate data network, encompassing DSL, frame relay, ATM and private-line connections.
“This becomes another option for companies assembling business IP networks,” a BellSouth spokesman said. “It has been available on an ad hoc basis in certain metros but it’s now available everywhere.”
Because Ethernet is pervasive in the LAN environment, offering Ethernet across the region enables seamless connections of distributed facilities.
BellSouth offers managed VPN services and MPLS (multi-protocol label switching) to enable businesses to link multiple types of access over a single network.
BellSouth Metro Ethernet Service can be used throughout the Southeast as an access method to network VPNs at speeds of 10 Mb/s, 20 Mb/s, 50 Mb/s, 100 Mb/s, 250 Mb/s and 500 Mb/s.
