BellSouth today announced data file backup and remote access applications services targeting small businesses. The services are part of a broader initiative by BellSouth to attract and retain small business customers.

The Online Backup service allows small business customers to select and send data files they wish to protect to a remote server where they are encrypted and updated daily. Files can then be retrieved in the event of computer failure or computer failure. The price of the service varies with the amount of data store, starting at $19.95 a month.

The remote access service, call BellSouth PC 2 Go(SM) Remote Access, features software which is downloaded onto a host computer, enabling customers to then access files or work in programs stored on that computer from any Internet connection, using a BellSouth portal. The service is available for $12.95 per month, per PC.
