Burger King gets its way with MegaPath

Managed service provider MegaPath will provide a national network to connect Burger King Corp. with its more than 500 restaurant franchisees in an end-to-end high-speed secure network.
The California-based MegaPath, which extended its reach earlier this year in a merger with Netifice, will design and implement a network that includes both DSL connections and a secure managed service to the Burger King restaurant locations, about 90% of which are independently owned and operated by franchise holders. The network is being built as part of Burger King’s corporate Connect Your W@y Initiative, which will use corporate buying power to bring better connections to individual sites.
According to Burger King officials, the Connect Your W@y Initiative will enable its franchisees to have access to services such as cashless transaction, point-of-sale polling, online ordering and reporting capabilities, as well as broadband Internet access, IP video security cameras, VoIP and audio and video conferencing.
“MegaPath enables organizations such as Burger King Corp. to implement a single, centrally managed solution to communicate with all of its franchisees,” said James Cragg, president and chief operating officer at MegaPath, in a prepared statement. “With the deployment of MegaPath’s managed IP data and security services, Burger King Corp. is in the position to focus on its core line of business without having to worry about the performance, management or reliability of its network.”Related Articles
