AT&T said this morning that San Diego will be the next market for its Homezone service, which ties DISH network satellite video services into a home network with AT&T’s DSL Internet access and voice services.

The Homezone service was launched in July in San Antonio and some Ohio markets. According to a spokesman, AT&T plans a mass rollout soon.

“San Diego adds a west coast representation to our initial launch,” the spokesman said. “We will roll out more broadly in coming months.”

Homezone uses an in-home network gateway from 2Wire Technologies to link DISH satellite video feeds with high-speed data in a home network, enabling integration between video and PC functions so that photos, music and online information from AT&T Yahoo! High-Speed Internet can be displayed on a networked TV set and a Digital Video Recorder can be programmed from a PC. Other services including digital videorecording, movies on demand, and storage for TV and PC. AT&T is rolling out Homezone in areas where it isn’t immediately offering IPTV via its Project Lightspeed network upgrade that increases fiber optic deployment in the local loop.

The Homezone service costs $9.99 in addition to the price of the service bundle featuring satellite and DSL. AT&T plans to further integrate services, including Cingular wireless service, to enable remote DVR programming via a wireless phone and other remote access features, as well as High Definition programming.
