Ikanos to acquire Doradus

Broadband chipset developer Ikanos Communications announced that it has agreed to acquire Doradus Technologies, a developer of advanced signal processing products for wireline and wireless communications and consumer applications.

With the acquisition, Ikanos will add engineering talent and technology for power-efficient and spectrum-efficient signal processing products for DSL, wireless and digital TV markets, according to Ikanos. Doradus' DoraVision VSB/QAM digital TV demodulator will enables Ikanos to expand its offering of highly-integrated, multi-functional triple-play products, a statement from the company said.

Upon completion of the transaction, Ikanos will be adding a team of seven engineers at its facilities in Fremont, Calif. Additional details on the acquisition will be provided during Ikanos' second quarter 2006 financial result conference call and Webcast later this afternoon.
