Verizon Business said today it has entered into a strategic alliance with SoftBank Telecom to share networks and services for multinational customers doing business in Japan.

Softbank, which provides business telecom services, operates a 13,000-kilometer national fiber optic backbone network in Japan.

“Japan is a key strategic market for many global businesses, as well as the headquarters location for many of the world's leading companies,” John Killian, president of Verizon Business, said in a prepared statement after attending the signing ceremony in Tokyo. “For enterprises operating on a global scale, access to secure and high-quality communications infrastructure is a prerequisite for business success.
