BOSTON--Video mail is gaining more attention at the Voice on the Net show this week.
BayPackets is adding video mail to its Agility Unified Communications application suite, the company announced today. Built on Brooktrout Technology's SnowShore IP media server and BayPackets' Agility SIP application server, the new application will conform to the 3GPP IP multimedia subsystem standard and be available on both wired and wireless networks. Video mail is the first of what BayPackets said will be a string of new multimedia applications it will introduce in the coming months.
"The notion is to increase air time for our subscribers and increase usage, which ultimately drives revenue," said Ken Epps, BayPackets chief executive officer.
Separately, Sylantro announced today that it will offer video mail in the latest release of its platform, version 4.0, which will be available some time in the fourth quarter.
Sylantro is also announcing a new resale agreement with Dynavar, a system integrator that targets second- and third-tier markets in North and South America.
"We've been selling to tier-twos and tier-threes for a while," said Bernard Gutnick, vice president of product marketing. "This gives us even more reach."
