RAD extends Ethernet for Yipes

Yipes Enterprise Services and RAD Data Communications are set to announce next week that the service provider and vendor are working together to extend Yipes Ethernet services across leased DS-3 and OC-3 facilities.
Yipes operates a 14,000 route-mile fiber network over which it runs Ethernet services, but it extends those services over Sonet network facilities to reach off-net customer locations. Working with RAD to map the services over DS-3 and OC-3--and in the future OC-12--will improve the overall reach of the Yipes core network, the companies said.
RAD’s RIC family of intelligent converters is the solution that allows Yipes to create a bridge between its Ethernet network and the leased TDM lines. “New services like Carrier Ethernet are expanding, but there are still locations with other types of network technology where service providers want to offer those services,” said Eitan Schwartz, vice president at RAD Data Communications USA.
