Equipment vendor FlexLight Networks has named J. Michael Camp its new CEO, replacing Gary Lee, who will become the company’s chief marketing officer.

Four-year-old FlexLight is one of two companies (the other is Optical Solutions) leading the market for gigabit-per-second-speed passive optical networking, or GPON.

Camp is the former CEO of VocalData, an IP Centrex software vendor that was acquired by Tekelec for about $27.5 million in October 2004. He also led asset management software firm Tangram Systems and Tech-Sym, the publicly traded parent company of several technology companies, which was acquired by Veritas Capital for about $182 million in 2000.
