CHICAGO--Actelis Networks today announced that Windstream is deploying its ML1300 and ML600 point-to-multipoint Ethernet-over-copper systems to offer symmetrical Ethernet services to multiple markets ranging from large government agencies and other institutions to the small to mid-sized business market.

“The Actelis solution plays a key role in Windstream’s overall Metro Ethernet network architecture,” said Bill Henke, director of enterprise solutions for Windstream, in a prepared statement. “The reach and reliability of their technology enables us to extend the advantages and cost benefits of broadband Ethernet services to our core small and medium-size business customers.”

Windstream, the independent telco formed from the merger of Alltel’s wireline facilities with Valor Telecom, is offering multiple services over its multiprotocol label switched backbone network under the ConnectStream brand including virtual LAN service, virtual private network service and Ethernet Internet access service in multiple markets in Kentucky and Nebraska this year. The company is using Actelis products to extend the reach of its Ethernet services over existing copper to businesses, including those in rural areas.

Windstream is the second new customer announced in as many days for Actelis, which Tuesday announced that the Horry Telephone Cooperative, the nation’s largest telephone cooperative, is deploying its products as well, including the XR239 Ethernet in the first mile repeater, which helps extend the reach of Ethernet-over-copper technology up to a maximum of 25 miles, covering 98% of carrier serving areas.
