AT&T today announced that it had launched its fiber-based U-verse TV service in some parts of the Connecticut markets of Hartford, Stamford, New Haven and surrounding communities.

Those launches came shortly after the carrier said last week that it was launching U-verse in portions of the San Francisco Bay Area and San Jose, Calif. AT&T earlier this year launched U-verse in its initial markets of San Antonio and Houston with a goal to be in 15 markets by the end of this year. Earlier this month, it lowered that goal to 11 markets. So far, it's in seven. Though the service is available in limited areas of the Connecticut markets, the carrier said it will continue to expand service availability in those markets.

The U-verse service includes more than 25 high-definition channels and more than 300 total channels, as well as features like remote access to DVR functions.

The Connecticut launches also came just a week after AT&T was sued by the City of Milwaukee, which wants to force the telco to pay local cable franchise fees to offer U-verse there. Connecticut, California and Texas are among the eleven states to have already created statewide video franchising.
