Global Tower acquires AT&T cellsites
more on the topic
Global Tower Partners today said it has bought 549 cellsites in urban areas across 27 states from AT&T, though it did not disclose their specific locations or cost.
The new tower sites adds substantially to GTP’s footprint of 2700 towers owned in the U.S. It’s total footprint contains 7700 sites across the world. The company was formerly controlled by private equity group Blackstone, which recently sold the company to Macquarie Infrastructure Partners.
The sale may be part of AT&T’s near completion of its integration of the former AT&T Wireless and Cingular networks, which had significant overlap especially in urban markets.
