Greenquist takes over at Telcordia

Telcordia lured Daniel Carroll out of retirement two years ago to bring discipline to the company’s operations, strengthen its relationships with core carrier customers and grow its business internationally. With that done, according to the company, Carroll will step aside tomorrow to let Mark Greenquist take over.

Telcordia has named Greenquist its new president and CEO effective May 2. Previously, he has served as chief operating officer and chief financial officer of the company. Both Greenquist and Carroll and will remain on Telcordia’s board of directors.

Greenquist was instrumental in executing Telcordia’s strategic business plan. He said he is committed to maintaining the company’s position in the marketplace and to helping operators thrive through the flawless execution of its products and services worldwide.

Greenquist has more than 20 years of global business expertise. Prior to becoming CFO of Telcordia in 2005, he was CFO at both Symbol Technologies and Agere Systems. He also held leadership positions at General Motors. He has a Bachelors degree in Economics from Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, and an MBA from Columbia Business School in New York.

In January of this year, with one full year under his belt, Carroll said he was pleased with Telcordia’s results for 2006 and that the company had met its objectives for the year. After much outside speculation that Telcordia would build on its 2004 acquisition of Granite Systems, Carroll said the company looked at more acquisitions, but determined internal development was still the route to take.

A market share survey by OSS Observer last week showed Telcordia ranked seventh among market share leaders in the telecom software segment with a 3% market share as of the end of 2006. Companies that have jumped ahead of Telcordia in the last year, such as Alcatel-Lucent and Oracle have done so through acquisition.
