SysMaster, Verimatrix partner for IPTV security

SysMaster Corporation, an IPTV, voice-over-IP and wireless solutions provider, announced today it has partnered with Verimatrix, an IPTV content protection technology supplier, to improve content security over public networks.
The partnership calls for the integration of SysMaster’s Tornado M10 set-top box with the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) in order to deliver secure video content across any network. In the coming months, Verimatrix technology will also be integrated into SysMaster’s entire IPTV product line, which includes VoiceMaster Content Management and Billing Middleware, the iptvSwitch streaming server and the muSwitch multicast-to-unicast converter.
According to Verimatrix’s Web site, VCAS is a software-based content security solution, which eliminates vulnerabilities related to smart-card-based architectures through the leveraging of two-way Internet security protocols, a public/private key pair system and X.509 digital certificates. The solution both enables transparency for legitimate content consumption while raising the level of protection against content piracy.
Security has long been a chief concern of IPTV content providers wary of piracy and Internet security breaches — issues that would slow adoption and industry growth. The SysMaster-Verimatrix partnership promises an integrated, reliable security solution that the company says will allow IPTV momentum to “continue its swift expansion across global markets.”
"We are very pleased to be able to build a relationship with a company of the stature of Verimatrix," said Martin Yosifov, director of marketing for SysMaster. "This partnership represents major progress for the IPTV industry and heralds a bright future for vendors, content providers and customers, who now have many more options for sourcing quality content."
