BayPackets proves IMS apps in Intel lab
more on the topic
IP Multimedia Subsystem vendor BayPackets has integrated its IMS-based Agility SIP Application Server with an AdvancedTCA Telco Server Proof of Concept architecture from Intel, and is running IMS applications in Intel's Modular Communications Platforms (MCP) Solution Labs.
Putting its server in those solution labs, which are located in China, New Jersey and Belgium, will help BayPackets showcase how carriers can use ATCA standards-based building blocks to create ther IMS architectures, said Sanjeev Chawla, chef technology officer and executive vice president of engineering at BayPackets.
The ATCA standard fosters modular hardware architecture that allows the integration of vendor platform and component solutions across a choice of standard backplanes. As a result, carriers are able to add new services as modular building blocks, creating IMS service flexibility for faster and more cost-effective service deployment, Chawla said. In many future IMS environments, ATCA and IMS will be working together to create fully open and agile multi-vendor infrastructures, he added.
In the Intel labs, BayPackets will test and demonstrate a range of multimedia applications, including Multimedia Ringback Tone, Videomail and Personal Communication Manager, as well as any number of third party applications. "We will be bring carriers through the labs so that they can see these IMS applications working and see the benefits of a fully standards-based, open architecture," Chawla said.
