IVR Tech, MetaSwitch team up on AmeriMex

IVR Technologies and MetaSwitch have teamed up to deliver advanced integrated services to AmeriMex Communications, a competitive local exchange carrier in the southern and eastern U.S. serving the U.S. and Latin American markets.

The IMS-based solutions will combine IVR Technologies’ Talking SIP application and MetaSwitch’s Class 4/5 softswitch. They will allow AmeriMex customers the ability to dial directly from their homes with access to prepay and flat-rate monthly long distance programs.

AmeriMex’s customers can be found in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky and Texas. The company was founded in 1998 in Atlanta.

The company shifted its business model earlier this year to being a facilities-based operator. AmeriMex selected MetaSwitch’s VP3510 Integrated Softswitch and IVR Technologies’ Talking SIP application server partly for their lab certified interoperability and for their ability to support the implementation of prepaid calling cards, residential voice-over-broadband service, callback features, tandem switching and an end-user accessible Web portal for e-commerce and autonomous subscriber account management.

IVR Technologies’ Talking SIP is an advanced software platform that combines three traditionally separate network elements into a single, tightly integrated solution for SIP based voice-over-IP networks. It combines the features of an application server, media server, and real-time billing server into a single solution.

“One of the promises of the SIP-based infrastructure is the ability to deliver a variety of services flexibly. And we try to have an evenly balanced strategy when it comes to new services and partnerships,” said John Lazar, CEO of MetaSwitch.

Talking SIP is designed to drive revenue to the network by providing intelligent and in-demand applications. It also claims to reduce turnover by providing innovative and customizable features, creative billing options and end-user empowerment.
