The SezMi option

SezMi, the company formerly known as Building B, is aggressively pursuing Independent telcos that are offering broadband services with a unique video solution that includes everything but broadband. The company announced its new name and its broader strategy May 1.

SezMi has developed what it calls FlexCast, a video distribution system that delivers prerecorded video content over terrestrial digital TV spectrum to a receiver SezMi designed with a smart antenna system and massive storage. Live content is delivered over broadband links, provided by the broadband ISP customers SezMi signs, to the same receiver, which looks like a small stereo speaker.

For consumers, the service is highly personalized. Individuals turn on the SezMi remote control using their own special power button and initially see a portal that combines their favorite content from live, recorded and on-demand programming.

For Independents, SezMi's appeal is an immediate leap into video services without the capital upgrade to the broadband plant or cost of acquiring content. SezMi has partnerships with TV broadcasters to provide the digital TV spectrum and has acquired the content as well, said Buno Pati, founder and CEO.

“There have been partial solutions before, but this is a complete solution; linear channels are out the window,” Pati said. “We are offering a seamless integration of all content sources — live, stored, on-demand and Internet — personalized down to the individual viewer.”
