Eric Shepcaro Morning Keynote Speaker |
As Senior Vice President of Business Development, Eric Shepcaro is responsible for identifying and launching new lines of business for AT&T by leveraging new and existing technologies. Eric also serves as the chair for AT&T's Emerging Technology Forum which includes AT&T's largest global enterprise customers. Previously Shepcaro served as Vice President of Business Strategy and Development, and AT&T's chief strategist, leading the company's transformation from a traditional telecommunications company to a leading integrator of enterprise and application networking solutions. He also lead the development and management of AT&T's Strategic Alliance Program with leading information technology firms. Eric Shepcaro joined AT&T Business June 2002 as Vice President/GM - Application Networking & Emerging services with responsibilities including Managed Security and Business Continuity Solutions, Metro Optical Solutions, Managed Hosting & Integration Services and Networked Application Portfolios. His team led AT&T's entry into utility-based computing services. In March 2004, he assumed the responsibility as the overall Transformation Officer for AT&T, accountable for programs to build shareholder value and create a framework for the future. These included network transformation, converged services and business simplification. Prior to AT&T, Shepcaro spent numerous years in the content delivery and content management domains serving as CEO and President of Netelligence Technologies, led the international content delivery, managed hosting and applications businesses at Digital Island, which was sold to C&W; and led worldwide sales and service for Sandpiper Networks. His background also includes 17 years at Sprint, where he held a variety of positions in marketing, sales and operations. Shepcaro holds a bachelor's degree and an MBA and is active in numerous charitable endeavors. He is a frequent speaker at leading industry events and has published several papers. |

As General Manager within the Microsoft Division, Christine Heckart is responsible for worldwide marketing and partner business development activities. In her role, she manages the teams responsible for market and competitive research and analysis, strategic and business planning, product management and planning, marketing communications, and customer and partner co-marketing activities. Ms. Heckart also significantly contributes to the overall vision, strategy and execution of the business, overseeing the success of Microsoft TV’s products with network operators, content owners, application developers, hardware manufacturers, and other partners. Prior to joining Microsoft, Ms. Heckart was Vice President of Marketing for Juniper Networks. In her three years in this role, she worked closely with the executive team to expand and diversify Juniper’s market focus and global customer base. Prior to Juniper, Ms. Heckart served as President of the strategic consulting firm, TeleChoice, Inc., where she worked with leading vendors and service providers worldwide on business and marketing strategy, differentiation, and positioning, and new service creation. Ms. Heckart is the author of The Guide to Frame Relay Networking and co-author of ATM for Dummies. An acknowledged industry thought leader, she was named by Network World magazine as one of its “Top 10 Power Thinkers” and as one of the “50 Most Powerful People in the Industry.” Ms. Heckart holds a bachelors degree in economics from the University of Colorado. |

Thomas Brinkman |
Thomas Brinkman is responsible for the development of Covista’s strategic and migration plans for the transition of their network from TDM to Soft Switching. In Regulatory role, Tom has an advocacy role with the FCC and PSC’s and direct responsibility for the negotiation of Interconnection and Wholesale Agreements with the RBOC’s Prior to his arrival at Covista, he worked in a consulting capacity with several companies where he focused on the development and implementation of strategic plans for the construction, deployment, marketing and operation of metro fiber optic rings that provided data and VoIP services to small, medium, and large businesses. Additionally, Tom played an instrumental role in deploying a Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) network in a major residential housing and small business development in the Deep Creek Resort area in Maryland. This system delivers digital TV, VoIP, and high bandwidth Internet services to the subscriber base. Additionally, Mr. Brinkman’s career includes 21 years with GTE where he held positions including VP Area General Manager, Network Operations Director, Switching Design and Development Director, Capital Planning Director and Customer Service Operations Director. Mr. Brinkman holds degrees in Mathematics and Business Administration. |

Michael Cooper |
As Director of Marketing, Michael Cooper oversees the marketing and strategy for products within Lucent's Converged Core Solutions Group. Michael has held numerous positions over his 29 year career within Lucent (AT&T Bell Labs). Beginning as a software engineer, Michael soon broadened his responsibilities to include the design of the next generation Operator Services system - OSPS. Next, he moved to system's engineering/architecture for the 5ESS(tm) switch. Michael also contributed to AT&T's SN-2000 program, Lucent's Next Generation Network Vision, and Accelerate(tm) and Convergence strategies encompassing circuit/packet convergence and VoIP. He has two patents and holds a BS in Biomedical Engineering and MS in Computer Science from Northwestern University. |

Rick DeGabrielle |
Rick DeGabrielle brings to Arroyo more than 25 years of experience in broadband voice, data, and video networking, and four successful start up companies. Prior to joining Arroyo, he served as the Vice President of Sales and Business Development for Catena Networks, where he led worldwide sales and business development activities and took the company from pre-revenue stage to $100 million a year. Rick also played a vital role in the sale of Catena to Ciena Corporation for $500 million. Prior to Catena, Rick held executive positions at Network Equipment Technologies, AccessLAN, and Cascade Communications. Rick is on the board of directors of Aktino, a provider of broadband infrastructure solutions for carriers. He holds a Bachelors degree in Marketing and an MBA in Finance from California State University Long Beach. |

Richard Gilbert |
Richard Gilbert is VP, Strategic Planning and has been with Net2Phone since 2002. Mr. Gilbert is responsible for plotting Net2Phone Cable Telephony’s VoIP service provider strategy and managing the various business relationships Net2Phone has with its technology and connectivity partners. He is instrumental in developing many of the new and existing roadmap initiatives that Net2Phone supports on behalf of its cable operator customers, including the development of commercial services and wireless services. Prior to Net2Phone, Mr. Gilbert had a nine-year career as a strategy consultant with Price Waterhouse and Booz-Allen & Hamilton where he worked on media and communications projects principally focused on developing new business plans for corporate clients. Rich Grange |
Richard C. Grange began his telecommunications career in 1982 when he co-founded and served as executive vice president and chief executive officer of TMC of Colorado, a long distance reseller. After TMC of Colorado was sold to TelAmerica in 1987, Mr. Grange founded and served as president and chief executive officer of Meridian Telecom International, a provider of international call termination and international operator services from 1995 to 1996. From 1994 until 1995, he served also as president of Technology Resource Group, an international call back carrier. Mr. Grange founded NGT in 1996 and has served as its president and chief executive since its inception. |

Jamey Heinze |
Jamey Heinze is senior director of data product management and
leads the team responsible for product lifecycles of converged services,
media services, private line, frame relay, ATM and Ethernet WAN.
A 16 -year veteran of technology and telecommunications services, Mr.
Heinze has sold, designed and implemented services for Broadwing since
1997 – services that include the Frost & Sullivan Award-winning
MultiConnect service. Prior to joining IXC, which later became Broadwing,
he gained valuable industry experience with leading brands such as MCI,
Sprint, WorldCom and Xerox. Mr. Heinze earned his degree at The
Pennsylvania State University.

Grant Henderson |
With more than 15 years experience in the data and telecommunications industry, Grant Henderson is responsible for Convedia's product strategy and global marketing initiatives. Previously, Grant served as Assistant Vice President of Product Management and Business Development at Starvision, where he helped develop broadband MCU and video service management products. Earlier, he was responsible for broadband applications marketing at Newbridge Networks. Prior to that, Grant managed the University of Ottawa's Multimedia Communications Research Lab and participated in advanced research in networked multimedia communication systems. Eric Hyman |
Eric Hyman is director of IP Services at XO Communications. In this role, he oversees the product development and strategy of XO Communications’ converged IP voice and data services. Eric led the launch of XO’s award-winning business VoIP offering, XOptions Flex. Eric has more than 10 years of marketing, product management and strategic planning in the telecommunications industry. Previously, Eric led the marketing efforts and product development for local services for AT&T Business Services. Eric launched CERFtone, AT&T’s first integrated bundled solution that combined local, long distance and data services. Peter Jarich |
Peter Jarich, Principal Analyst for Wireless Infrastructure at Current Analysis, is responsible for tracking and analyzing market developments impacting mobile infrastructure and mobile networking. Chris MacFarland |
Chris MacFarland joined McLeodUSA in March of 2006 as Group Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. With more than 16 years experience in the telecommunications service provider, software, and computer hardware industries, Mr. MacFarland is responsible for leading the network architecture, technical product development, network engineering, and network planning functions at McLeodUSA. Most recently MacFarland was responsible for managing operations across the globe for BroadSoft, the leading provider of VoIP applications software to carriers, as global vice president of operations. Previous to BroadSoft he had served as senior vice president and chief technology officer at Allegiance Telecom until the acquisition of the company by XO Communication in 2004. Prior to Allegiance he held various management roles with Verio and its subsidiaries. Mr. MacFarland also co-founded and was President of CompuNet, a regional Internet service provider. Mr. MacFarland currently serves on the board of directors of MobilePro Corporation as the lead independent director. He attended the University of Texas at Arlington. |

Dan Moffat founded New Edge Networks in June 1999 and merged it with EarthLink in April 2006. Prior to New Edge Networks, Dan founded the telecom strategy firm Access Value Services. Dan has a bachelor's degree from California State University, a master's degree in telecommunications from Golden Gate University, and an MBA from Santa Clara University. Hilton Nicholson |
Hilton Nicholson rejoined March 2, 2006, as President of ADC’s Active Infrastructure Business Unit. In this role, Hilton is responsible for the management and financial performance of this Business Unit which is comprised of Wireless coverage and capacity systems, optical transport and xDSL access solutions. Prior to joining ADC, Hilton was Senior Vice President of Product Operations at 3Com, with responsibility for product management, product marketing, research and development, customer technical support and supply chain. Nicholson previously served as Vice President and General Manager of Lucent Technologies’ Core Switching and Routing Division, a division comprised of Lucent’s Ascend Cascade Division and Nexabit acquisitions. The division was comprised of more than 800 employees, with analysts estimated revenues of approximately $1 billion in 2001. Prior to this role, Nicholson held a variety of technical and leadership positions within Lucent, including Systems Engineering Director, Lucent Switching and Access Solutions, and Vice President and General Manager of Lucent Inter-Networking Systems (INS). Prior to his time at Lucent, Hilton served at AT&T for eight years, holding a variety of marketing, strategic planning and new business development positions. P.K. Prasanna |
In his role as practice director of convergence/IMS services for inCode, P.K. Prasanna leads convergence/IMS sales, business development and delivery activities. Mr. Prasanna has led several engagements ranging from convergence strategy to IMS implementation, with major service provider and infrastructure customers. Prior to joining inCode, Mr. Prasanna was the President and COO of Flash Networks, a provider of wireless data infrastructure software. In this capacity, he developed company strategy, headed all product and business functions, and successfully raised two rounds of funding. Earlier, Mr. Prasanna was Vice President, Network Integration Services, at AT&T Solutions where he initiated and developed the network consulting business into a major revenue producer. During his career at AT&T, P.K. led the global technical marketing organization that provided transformational network strategy and network solutions for enterprises and service providers worldwide. While at Bell Labs, he was instrumental in the design and standardization of a number of packet technologies, including ATM and frame-relay. PK has an M.S.C.E from Widener University, Pennsylvania and an MBA (finance) from the Wharton School. |

Andy Randall |
Andy Randall joined the MetaSwitch team in 2001, but has been with parent company Data Connection since 1988. He benefits from a strong engineering background, including positions as lead architect and project manager in the area of Internet communications technologies, leading to several industry-first innovations in the field of real-time audio, video and data-conferencing. He progressed into a general management role with marketing, sales and product management responsibilities for the company's Web conferencing solutions, working worldwide with tier 1 service providers. Since moving to the company's MetaSwitch division, Andy has played a key role in its successful growth from start-up to industry leader, from the North American launch of the VP3500 Series Class 5 Softswitch to today with over 200 deployments. He is well known in the industry as a frequent speaker evangelizing the benefits of next generation technology for small as well as large service providers. Brooks Robinson |
Brooks Robinson leads Cbeyond's marketing organization, including business strategy, product marketing, sales operations and communications. He also has held leadership roles in operations and channel development at Cbeyond. Prior to joining Cbeyond, Robinson worked for Cambridge Strategic Management Group (CSMG), a strategy consulting firm in Boston. While at CSMG, he managed consulting engagements that focused on strategy development and business case due diligence for the telecom and high tech sectors. Previously, Robinson managed consulting engagements for Deloitte Consulting in Toronto and held various engineering positions at Nortel Networks in Ottawa. Robinson is an active board director of the Cobb Microenterprise Center (CMC), a not-for-profit organization that offers an in-depth and affordable entrepreneurial training program designed for low- to moderate-income individuals aspiring to start or expand a business. Chris Ruff |
As President of UIEvolution, Chris Ruff is responsible for managing operations, as well as driving partnership and licensing opportunities. Chris has more than a decade of experience in computers and communications, with a background in new business development, enterprise system sales, hardware configuration, technology implementation, project management, and business-process reengineering. Before he joined UIEvolution, Chris was co-founder and CEO of Aptelix Inc., a software startup specializing in wireless-Internet messaging technologies, where he was instrumental in developing the company's business model and acquiring seed funding. Before Aptelix, Chris worked in product marketing for the Cobalt Group, an Internet technology firm targeting the automotive industry. At the Cobalt Group, Chris was responsible for a range of marketing activities, from creating pricing models to competitive analysis. Chris also worked as a systems consultant for Computers Unlimited, a Billings, Mont.-based business-management software company, where he helped reposition the company's products to boost sales. Vikram Saksena |
Vikram Saksena is currently the Chief Architect in the Office of the CTO at Sonus Networks where he is responsible for next generation technologies and service provider solutions. He has over twenty years of experience in the telecom and cable industries in senior technology positions. He spent 16 years at AT&T building their data network services, software and network infrastructure for Frame Relay, ATM, and IP. He became an AT&T Fellow and CTO of the Data Networking Business Unit responsible for service and technology innovations around IP QoS, MPLS, and Voice over IP. After AT&T, he served as the CTO and VP of Engineering of two start-up companies, MaxComm Technologies and Narad Networks, focused on developing next-generation technologies for the DSL and Cable markets, respectively. Vikram has published over 100 papers and has been awarded over 15 patents. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE. |

Dave Schaeffer |
Dave Schaeffer founded Cogent Communications in August 1999 and is the Chief Executive Officer. Prior to founding Cogent Communications, Mr. Schaeffer was the founder of Pathnet. He also developed a regional paging carrier and numerous SMR systems throughout the United States. Mr. Schaeffer has founded and operated a total of seven successful businesses, including the second-largest delivery and ground transportation enterprise in the United States and a property and casualty underwriter. Mr. Schaeffer has also developed 46 commercial real estate properties in the Washington D.C. metro area. Mr. Schaeffer holds a B.S. in Physics from the University of Maryland, where he was also a Ph.D. candidate in Economics. |

Philip Shuman |
Prior to forming HighView Media, Philip Schuman was Co-President, Universal Studios Television Distribution where he was responsible for the successful management of the global theatrical and television product distribution organization for Universal Studios, Inc. Daniel Simpkins |
Dan Simpkins founded Hillcrest Labs in 2001 with a team of experienced technical and business professionals to create a revolution in entertainment. Prior to Hillcrest, Dan was Vice President and General Manager of the SALIX Switching Division of Tellabs, Inc., which was established in 2000 when Dan sold Voice over IP leader SALIX Technologies to Tellabs for $300 million. Dan founded SALIX in 1990 and continued as president and CEO through the sale. Dan currently serves on the Board of Advisors of Cornell University’s BR Ventures and is a member of the prestigious Cornell University Council. Currently he also sits on the Board of Advisors of several high-tech companies and is a member of CTAM. Dan served as an Executive in Residence for New Enterprise Associates (NEA), one of the country’s premier VC firms. With 16 years of telecom experience, Stéphane Téral is regarded as one of the top analysts in his field, having been the trusted advisor at some of the world’s largest telecom companies, including Alcatel, BT, Deutsche Telekom, France Télécom, and Siemens. Benedict Tse |
Benedict Tse has extensive experience in emerging product development with a special focus in developing telecommunications solutions for service providers, small and medium-sized enterprises (SME), and consumers. He has successfully pioneered such projects as a self-serve billing system, credit card fraud protection system, self-provisioned communication systems, NAT traversal solutions, voice recognition and voice portal solutions. Prior to TelTel, Mr. Tse was the President and Co-founder of Packetel, Inc., a leading email-to-fax and VoIP solution provider. Under Mr. Tse's management, Packetel became a top-tier solution provider in less than two years. Vince Vittore |
Vince Vittore is a senior analyst in Yankee Group's Broadband Access Technologies Decision Service. Vittore covers several areas within the broadband access market, tracking both fiber- and copper-based technologies. In the fiber space, Vittore examines topics ranging from the adoption of broadband passive optical network (BPON) and gigabit passive optical network (GPON) to the emergence of new business models created by high-bandwidth technologies. Vittore provides comprehensive coverage of DSL, including ADSL, ADSL2+ and VDSL2. He also has a heavy concentration on the IPTV segment. Before joining Yankee Group, Vittore was the executive editor of Telephony magazine in Chicago, where he covered the access market as well as independent telcos. Philip Yim joined Allied Telesyn in 2004 and is responsible for the company's global R&D operations and leading the company's five regional development centers. With more than 25 years experience in the communications industry, Mr Yim was Vice President, Marketing and Product Development and co-founder of Turin Networks. Prior to Turin Networks, Mr Yim was chief evangelist for the unified xDSL-POTS Broadband 3GDLC product at Advanced Fiber Communications and has held management positions at Siemens and GEC-Plessey Telecommunications. Mr Yim has extensive experience in the development carrier IP services, Access Multiplexes DSLAM, DLC, FTTx, broadband voice and packet switching and next generation Ethernet transport. Mr. Yim holds a 1st Class Honors BEng from the University of Bradford and a Telecommunications diploma from Old Swan Technical College, England. |

Joseph Ziskin |
Joseph Ziskin is responsible for IBM’s strategy and development of solutions for telecommunication service providers and partners. IBM global telecommunications solutions bring together IBM's various alliances with network equipment providers (NEPs) and key industry independent software vendors (ISVs) to focus on challenges facing the industry. Prior to joining IBM, Ziskin spent more than 13 years in strategy consulting. During this time he spent three years at a global consultancy’s research center, concentrating on consulting and research in the areas of information technology leadership and technology-enabled business capabilities, specifically for customer management. In addition, Ziskin was vice president of strategic planning for technology and group leader of financial management information systems at a super-regional bank. Ziskin earned a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and a master’s degree in business administration with high honors from the Graduate School of Management at Boston University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. |
