Ericsson has struck a deal with another Swedish equipment vendor for IPTV customer premises gear, integrating set-top boxes from Tilgin into its product portfolio.
Based in Stockholm, Sweden, publicly held Tilgin sells IP set-tops and residential gateways. Its Mood 300 and 400 products support MPEG-4 advanced video coding, personal video recording and high-definition television.
In February, Tilgin announced North American distribution deals with NetDigital, Nexicom and the Communications Supply Services Association, an alliance of rural incumbent telcos.
In August, Tilgin reported “weak order intake in early 2007” and “significantly lower sales during the second quarter … However, due to the strong order intake so far in the third quarter, prospects for the second half of 2007 have improved considerably.”
Tilgin adds to Ericsson’s growing IPTV arsenal, which includes gear obtained through acquisitions of Entrisphere, Redback Networks and Tandberg TV.
