Alcatel surprised the industry last week with the revelation that its chief operating officer, Mike Quigley, would trade in his title after the company's merger with Lucent Technologies. Quigley, who was once expected to replace retiring Alcatel CEO Serge Tchuruk this year, has decided “for personal reasons” to instead become the merged company's president of science, technology and strategy. Although Lucent's CEO Pat Russo was named CEO of the combined company, its management thus far is dominated by Alcatel alumni. Names in blue are executives who thus far have been named to key roles in the combined company, a process that has not yet concluded.
