Romano Valussi, president of Alcatel’s optical networks division, has been appointed to Tropic Networks’ board of directors as part of a previously announced partnership between the two companies.

The equipment vendors announced in July that Alcatel had led a $33 million investment round in Tropic and agreed to resell its products as well as contribute a director to Tropic’s board.

Valussi has been with Alcatel since 1990, when he became director of the company’s low-capacity Sonet/SDH laboratories.
