SAN JOSE--Legerity announced this week that it will use StarCore' Digital Signal Processing technology for use in IP communication applications.
Legerity, which has been providing voice chipsets to fiber-to-the-premises vendors, will use the StarCore technology to expand into other areas, including wireless. StarCore DSPs already are at the base of several wireless vendors' platforms including Motorola's. For Legerity, the addition will allow it to further enhance its Voice Control Processor and line test diagnostic algorithms in upcoming VoIP products.
"To us, it's enabling technology but it also gets us more horsepower under the hood," said Mike Stibila, vice president of marketing and applications.
The ability to including line testing in VoIP applications is expected to be a significant differentiator, Stibila said.
The first Legerity products based on the StarCore technology are expected to be released in the second half of this year.
