Golden, Colo.-based New Global Telecom announced an agreement with ICG Communications today to migrate ICG’s enterprise VoIP customers on NGT’s 6DegreesIP hosting platform.

The agreement calls for ICG to make a significant investment in NGT during 2005. ICG will receive a minority equity interest in NGT and have two participatory seats on NGT’s board of directors.

ICG’s 5600 VoicePipe enterprise end users will continue to be served by ICG, however, the underlying platform will migrate from ICG’s in-house platform to NGT’s 6DegreesIP hosted VoIP platform, which includes the BroadWorks feature server platform.

The transition will take place over the next six months, and ICG will pay New Global Telecom a monthly recurring fee for end-user feature support. ICG will continue to expand its VoicePipe service in the marketplace, using NGT’s platform to support its new end-users.

ICG’s investors are M/C Venture Partners and Columbia Capital. Columbia Capital also is an investor in BroadSoft, the manufacturer of the BroadWorks feature server platform.

Peter Claudy, general partner of M/C Venture Partners cited the firm’s belief in the VoIP remote hosting service model and NGT’s growing leadership position in this space. NGT recently took over several customer accounts for hosted VoIP from Level 3 when Level 3 announced its departure from its (3) Tone managed enterprise VoIP service.

The 6DegreesIP product suite supports VoIP feature packages for both enterprise and consumer end-users. It includes ancillary features, such as on-demand conferencing; an extensive network origination/termination footprint; sophisticated network management capability; retail billing and OSS functionality; CPE testing and support; sales, marketing and training support.

Both companies have established transition teams to ensure a smooth migration to NGT’s platform.
