Wholesale IP service provider New Global Telecom has hired Mike Donnell, a former CEO of Cellular One, as its new president and CEO. Donnell replaces NGT co-founder Rich Grange, who is transitioning out of day-to-day operational activities.
The move follows two other executive placements this year at 10-year-old NGT. Bob Decker previously was named senior vice president-operations & technology, and John Guillaume was appointed senior vice president of sales and marketing.
Donnell, in addition to having been CEO of Cellular One Group leading up to the acquisition of the marketing organization--as part of the McCaw Cellular acquisition--by AT&T in the mid-1990s, most recently was president and CEO of mobile phone software firm Zi Corp. He also previously served as an executive with PageNet.
"We remain committed to a carefully crafted strategy to sell, deploy and maintain our services through channels to the SMB market," Donnell said in a statement announcing his hiring.
