Pannaway gets vocal about partners

LAS VEGAS--Pannaway Technologies announced today it has completed interoperability testing with CopperCom’s softswitch.
The testing is part of a larger effort by Pannaway to more formally partner with other players in the voice-over-IP market. The company in July announced a new version of its BAS-POTS platform that can act as a hardened switch geared specifically for remote terminal deployments.
The combined CopperCom/Pannaway solution is targeted at independent telcos and CLECs wanting to make the migration away from circuit switching into VoIP. Many already have made the decision, but it takes vendors packaging up various elements to push the market, said Mark Carpenter, vice president of business development for Pannaway.
“We’re trying to lead the market to retirement of TDM services,” he said. “The hesitation in a lot of cases has been that voice is the crown jewel.”
Pannaway’s Primary Line VoIP Partner Program also will include deals with media gateway vendors and feature server manufacturers. Among the objectives of the program will be giving carriers a way to move to VoIP without hurting their existing primary line service. Key to that is providing access to E911 services.
