Infonetics: ROADM revenue to double this year
more on the topic
Revenue from reconfigurable add/drop multiplexing gear will double this year after reaching more than $100 million in 2004, according to a recent report from Infonetics Research. And the component and subsystem market for ROADM equipment should grow 81% this year.
North America and Japan are the most active markets in terms of ROADM deployments and requests for information and proposals, the report said.
The past two years have seen ROADM equipment introductions from vendors including Fujitsu, Nortel Networks, Cisco Systems, Movaz Networks and Tropic Networks, among others, all offering the technology as a way for carriers to provision and adjust wavelengths in their metro and long-haul core networks without the time and expense of truck rolls.
By 2008, almost half of all revenue from metro wavelength-division multiplexing equipment will come from ROADMs.
