Vonage connects troops for free

Vonage is capping its biggest year with a big donation. The company announced today that U.S. soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan racked up 200,000 free phone calls under its donation program.
Soldiers were able to call home and spent an average of 10 minutes per call reaching out to family and friends. Vonage will continue the free call program through 2005, the company said.
"We recognize the sacrifices the men and women of the United States Armed Forces are making in Iraq and Afghanistan, and although we cannot do anything to get them back to their families any faster, we are doing our best to use our service to help make the loneliness of their deployment a little more bearable,” said Vonage Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Citron, in a prepared statement.
