Beceem Communications, a developer of Mobile WiMAX chipsets, announced that it has received an investment from DoCoMo Capital, the venture capital arm of NTT DoCoMo. The amount of the financing was not disclosed.

“The investment from DoCoMo Capital will enable Beceem to benefit from the expertise of one of the world’s leading wireless operators, NTT DoCoMo," said Shahin Hedayat, CEO and co-founder of Beceem. "We are looking forward to a close collaboration that will allow Beceem to expand its leadership in Mobile WiMAX chipsets.”

Beceem has demonstrated its prototype chipsets to leading telecom equipment manufacturers that are developing and deploying Mobile WiMAX solutions, and has announced commercial availability of its Mobile WiMAX terminal chipset.
