Huawei to use Intel WiMAX chips

Huawei Technologies and Intel announced at the China Wireless Forum 2005 in Shanghai, China, that the Chinese network equipment giant will use Intel's 802.16-2004-compliant fixed WiMAX chipsets in the development of carrier-grade network gear.
Huawei said in a statement that it expects the equipment to be commercially available in the fourth quarter of this year. The two companies also said they would work closely on other related WiMAX developments. Intel announced its PRO/Wireless 5116 chipset last week
"This partnership will speed up the establishment of wireless broadband networks and promote the development of the wireless broadband implementation globally," said Guo Zhiyan, general manager of the Broadband Wireless Division, Huawei Technologies,in a statement.
