WiMAX Forum certifies more 3.5 Ghz products

The WiMAX Forum announced that it seven more products from five different vendors have successfully completed WiMAX Forum Certified testing for the Frequency Division Duplexing (FDD) system profile operating in the 3.5GHz frequency spectrum.
Those products include Airspan’s MacroMAX base station and EasyST subscriber station solution; Axxcelera’s ExcelMax base station; SEQUANS Communications’ SQN1010-RD subscriber station solution; Siemens’ WayMAX@vantage base station and subscriber station solutions; and Wavesat’s miniMAX subscriber station solution.
Thus far, 14 products have earned certification at through the forum's lab partner, Cetecom Spain, since the beginning of the year. The test series consists of protocol conformance, radio conformance and interoperability testing.
The forum also announced the successful completion of the 3rd WiMAX Forum Plugfest, which was a week-long interoperability event held March 12-19 at the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) headquarters in Sophia Antipolis, France. These Plugfests provide WiMAX Forum member companies – equipment vendors and network operators and their technical staffs – the opportunity to test and interwork their respective pre-certified products and equipment in advance of final testing, the forum said in a statement.
There were 10 WiMAX Forum member equipment suppliers that participated in the latest Plugfest event, including Airspan, Axxcelera, Delta Networks, MITAC, picoChip, Proxim Wireless Corporation, Redline Communications, Sequans, Vcom, and Wavesat. In addition, Invenova Corp. contributed to the event with their protocol conformance tester.
