Telsima, a vendor of broadband wireless systems and a principal member of the WiMAX Forum, has announced the latest in a recent string of funding agreements from multiple vendors that are funneling more money into the WiMAX sector. The company, which is targeting emerging markets, has completed its $20 million Series C round of funding, with contributions from NewPath Ventures, New Enterprise Associates, CMEA Ventures and JAFCO Asia.
Telsima has development centers in Boston; Bangalore, India; and Slovenia. Alok Sharma, CEO of Telsima, said the company has a particular focus on the challenges presented by the India market, such as dense population. In addition to broadband wireless, Telsima also offers Carrier Ethernet Transport and DCME voice compression solutions.
Earlier this week, Samsung Ventures America invested in Beceem Communications, a developer of 802.16e Mobile WiMAX chipsets.
