Motorola exec gets $775,000 goodbye
more on the topic
Motorola is giving one of its longtime officers more than three quarters of a million dollars as a severance payment after eliminating his position earlier this year. That amount is slightly larger than his 2005 bonus.
A Motorola officer since 1999, 58-year-old Adrian Nemcek was executive vice president of the company’s Networks division when Motorola combined that group with its Enterprise division last March. The Networks group primarily focused on CDMA, GSM and IDEN products. Nemcek officially retired on June 30.
A retirement agreement made between the departing executive and the company on July 18 calls for Motorola to give Nemcek $775,752 in one pre-tax lump sum. He will also be eligible to receive pro-rata payments under the company’s annual and long-term incentive plans, retirement benefits, and some outstanding stock grants.
Nemcek earned a base salary of $593,269 for 2005, with an annual bonus of $750,000, 350,000 stock options and $1.62 million in long-term incentive payouts.
His retirement agreement also calls for Nemcek to be available to Motorola as a consultant for one year following his departure in exchange for $2,500 per day. And it forbids Nemcek from sharing the company’s secrets and from trying to steal its employees or customers for two years.
