This is it: the apex of the U.S. wireless season, marked by the industry’s pre-eminent event, CTIA Wireless 2005, held this year in New Orleans. (Speaking of CTIA, check out the back page of this issue for a conversation with the association’s VP of policy, Carolyn Brandon.) What you can expect to see at this year’s show is what you see covered in these pages: the rapid evolution of next-gen mobile technologies like EV-DO, the advent of convergence methods like IMS, the emergence of standards like HSDPA and the eminence of business models like the mobile virtual network operator (subject of this month’s cover story on Sky Dayton’s new thing). You’ll also see new software and hardware tools used to power, monitor, tweak and test the network (like those featured in Tim McElligott’s coverage of test equipment trends). You can also see us: Everyone pictured on this page will be there, sorting out how it will all shape the future.

Jason Ankeny is a senior editor for both Wireless Review and Telephony and hosts WR’s On the Air e-newsletter. For this issue, he profiled wireless wunderkind Sky Dayton’s efforts to enter the MVNO market with his SK-EarthLink venture. Jason also wrote WR’s January cover story on mobile video technology initiatives.

Dan O’Shea oversees the print and online news efforts of Telephony, helps guide the editorial direction of Wireless Review and is a regular contributor to both. He covered developing standards for our Special Report.

Kevin Fitchard covers the wireless beat for Telephony and is a frequent contributor to Wireless Review. In February, he traveled to Cannes, France, to attend the 3GSM World Congress. Kevin also wrote about the advancement of mobile enterprise services in our Special Report on networks and applications. He wrote WR’s February cover story on mobile multimedia content.

Chip Howard is the Web editor for Wireless Review, Telephony and Mobile Radio Technology. Over the past several months he has led the effort to overhaul the content and layout of all three publications’ online components, which culminated this month with the launch of the redesigned WR site, www.wirelessreview.com.
