Wi-Fi hot spot aggregator Boingo Wireless announced Wednesday a roaming agreement with Connexion by Boeing that will enable its Boingo Roaming System subscribers to connect to the wireless Internet in mid-air.

The deal essentially extends Boingo's international network of 15,000-plus hot spots to include all Connexion by Boeing-equipped commercial aircraft, a list that currently consists of select flights offered by Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines System, Japan Airlines and ANA. Singapore Airlines, China Airlines, Korean Air and Asiana are also scheduled to make available Connexion's in-flight broadband service later this year.

Connexion by Boeing's roaming agreement with Boingo is the second of its kind--the company also has in place an agreement with NTT DoCoMo to serve its Mzone wireless LAN service users. Boeing launched Connexion in mid-2003; the service is not currently available on U.S. airlines.
