Tellabs has launched Transport Network Optimization Services, professional services focused on helping wireless carriers reduce operating expenses, as part of its Tellabs Global Services portfolio.
The company said in a statement it already has applied those services to help one Tier 1 North American wireless carrier to realize more than $18 million in immediate and annual operating expense savings in three metropolitan markets. The statement, which didn't identify the carrier, said the projects "moved quickly from start to finish, attaining completion on average in 12 weeks."
“Rising user demands and fierce market competition put intensifying pressure on wireless networks,” said Rob Pullen, Tellabs senior vice president of global services, in the statement. “Our new services deliver best practices to manage any complex network change or consolidation, while enabling providers to roll out new in-demand services sooner.”
The statement further added that the services aim to deliver "improved network quality and reliability--cleaning up issues that hamper performance; comprehensive data audit and reconciliation--synchronizing the database design and content to mirror the actual state of the transport network; expert analysis, architecture, design and optimization recommendations--identifying items such as billing discrepancies, inefficient routing, potential points of network failure and underutilized facilities; full program management--acting as a single point of contact driving results from initial planning through completion; and enhanced ability to offer new, high-bandwidth services--anticipating where customer growth will occur and optimizing the transport network to meet requirements."
