If you are worried about wireless adoption reaching a saturation point and slowing the market, worry no more. According to a new report from Insight Research, global wireless revenue will capture another 10% of all communications revenue by 2010.

Wireless subscribers are expected to grow from 1.85 billion this year to over 3.1 billion by 2011, according to the report, making it nearly a $1 trillion industry.

Overall carrier revenue, already at nearly $1.2 trillion, will grow to just over $1.5 trillion by 2010.

The average compound annual growth rate worldwide for telecom services will be 5.9% for the period, however. North America--while still maintaining its revenue leadership for two more years--will realize only 3.9% of that growth. The EMEA market will grow by 4.5%. The Asia/Pacific market will grow by 9.3% and Latin America and the Caribbean can expect an 8% CAGR "despite the economic and political problems of debt default, recessions and currency devaluations in the recent past of Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Chile," the report said.

The Asia/Pac market could surpass North America in revenue generation by 2007 with more than $396 billion, thanks in part to bringing services to the underserved markets of China and India. By 2010, the market is expected to generate more than $502 billion. The North American market will generate almost $402 billion by 2007 and $455 billion by 2010.

Insight Research's report also identifies other industry market trends such as changes in network infrastructure, as in deployment of optical switching and add-drop multiplexers and other next-generation equipment. It also examines the operations and business support systems that will support the NGN broadband and narrowband access as well as requirements for streaming media and voice over IP.
