ArrayComm, TI partner for wireless broadband
more on the topic
Smart Antenna vendor ArrayComm and Texas Instruments are working together to integrate ArrayComm's Network MIMO technology with TI's TMS320TCI6482 digital signal processors into a single reference design for wireless infrastructure applications.
The combined solution could provide operators with four-fold improvements in wireless system coverage, data rates more than doubled, and a capacity increase as much as 10 times existing solutions, with better coverage quality for 802.16 WiMAX and WCDMA/HSDPA networks, the companies claimed in a statement.
The first element of this collaboration is a reference design for WiMAX infrastructure applications that incorporates ArrayComm's multiple input/multiple output software, which implements all the antenna processing aspects of the WiMAX profiles approved by the WiMAX Forum Mobile Task Group (MTG) for IEEE 802.16e.
Despite the speed and performance improvements, the companies say their integrated solution consumes only three watts of power.
