Wireless security company Network Chemistry is announcing today that it will license its RFprotect Distributed wireless LAN management solution to access point array maker Xirrus. The Xirrus WLAN Array combines a WLAN switch with up to 16 Integrated Access Points (IAPs) to address very large deployment areas.
The array product also includes a dedicated RF sensor. Network Chemistry's RFprotect solution will reside in one of the IAPs in the array, said Brian de Haaff, vice president of product management and marketing at Network Chemistry.
The integration of Network Chemistry software allows the WLAN Array to provide full-time wireless intrusion detection and prevention capabilities while also delivering over 800 mb/s of RF bandwidth to client devices. Network Chemistry's software can detect rogue devices and over 200 known security threats, de Haaff said.
"We're still seeing an increase in the number and types of rogue devices that are trying to enter these networks, in particular where there is very broad coverage," he said.
