Unlicensed Mobile Access technology pioneer Kineto Wireless has announced that Texas Instruments is enabling Kineto's UMA client software for handset designs using TI's new WiLink 5.0 mobile WLAN platform and its OMAP-Vox chip architecture.
TI just announced WiLink 5.0 platform today. It integrated mobile/wireless LAN convergence based on UMA, as well as Bluetooth and FM stereo audio quality.
Avner Goren, worldwide director of marketing, Cellular Systems Solutions, TI's Wireless Terminals Business Unit, said in a statement from Kineto, "Through this relationship, we can enable faster time to market for UMA devices and help device manufacturers meet the tremendous demand for convergence solutions."
Combined with TI's low-power WiLink 4.0 and WiLink 5.0 mobile WLAN platforms, the UMA-enabled OMAPV1030 solution will drive voice over WLAN convergence into mid-tier mass market handsets.
