PhoneDo unveils new name, new FMC platform
more on the topic
SIP convergence server maker PhoneDo is now sporting a new name as well as new line of core fixed-mobile convergence products. The Israeli company today took the name of its key product line, Convergin, and unveiled its Accolade Wireless Convergence Server platform, which the company said will introduce SIP applications into a legacy network, giving carriers a path toward IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS).
Convergin CEO Ayal Itzkovitz said that the platform is unique among other FMC solutions in that it is a core platform that links legacy and next-generation elements at both the transport and network intelligence layers, as opposed to edge FMC solutions which introduces SIP features without providing a migration path toward IMS.
Itzkovitz added that in addition to its moniker and product line makeover, Convergin is changing its business model. Instead of direct sales to carriers, Convergin is pursuing OEM agreements with all of the major vendors and is evolving its product line to pure software. The new Accolade is built on a Sun Microsystems’ Solaris foundation on Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (ATCA) in order to meld with any vendor’s softswitch and server architectures.
