Cingular adds cell sites in Texas, Florida
more on the topic
Cingular Wireless has announced the installation of more than 170 new GSM/EDGE cell sites across Texas in conjunction with the company’s $98 million statewide network improvement plan.
Over the course of 2004, Cingular built new cell sites in areas including Dallas/Ft. Worth, Waco, Amarillo and Lubbock. Combined with sites acquired via the carrier’s merger with AT&T Wireless, Cingular now boasts over 2000 cell sites in the North Texas region alone, more than any rival operator.
Cingular also announced it is nearing completion of its $33 million network buildout in southern Florida. Since January, the carrier has added 25 cell sites in Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee counties as part of a $200 million-plus investment throughout the state. In all, Cingular added 107 cell sites across Florida in 2004 in addition to enhancing numerous existing sites.
